A: I’d say the Scion tC, brand new. You can get it for 17K and add some goofy, pointless bells and whistles if you want, because it comes fully-loaded. It’s an awesome car, esp for the money. And Toyota quality, to boot.

Q: What’s the best family car to buy in Australia?
We are a family of 5, 2 kids are in boosters and the third in a baby seat. We are in the need of a car that has 7 seats although I’m not keen on anything too big. At the moment we are looking at Mazda MPV, Toyota Klugar, Honda Odyssey, Ford Territory. Has anyone got experience with these cars and can give me some advice or can recommend something else? We are only looking at used cars that are under $25000. Thanks in advance.
A: Ok you would be wise to buy a 7 seater as even a large sedan wont fit 3 baby seats in the second row.
- The Mazda MPV with the 2.5L V6 with a four-speed automatic was considered underpowered, you are best to buy a 2002+ model with the 3.0L & 5-speed auto, this will also be more more fuel efficient. These are regarded as one of the best people movers, especially for the price. This model has been discontinued by Mazda in many markets including Australia. Find out about parts costs from Mazda.
- Toyota’s are always a safe best as they are reliable and very popular and you will reap the benefit of depreciation now that there are used examples. Get a 2004+ model with a 5-speed auto.
- The Honda Odysseyis well built and reliable like most Honda’s and look nice for a people mover, but again are considered underpowered. These have an excellent interior and should stand the test of time.
- The Territory is a great car overall, with sedan like handling and a smooth drive…but very thirsty on fuel!
Best advice is to go and see them all and test drive them to see which suits you best.
Also look at the Mitsubishi Grandis as another option.

I’m 16 and my parents want to buy a third vehicle, I wont own it, but I do have some say in what they get. They want to spend under/around 25000 and have at least okay mileage. It can be either used or new, I really don’t care either way but I go to a really rich school where all the guys have a truck (texas) and all the girls have “barbie cars” and anyone who doesn’t has a sports car.
I definitely don’t want a truck or a barbie car, and I’m much more about attitude than how expensive the car is. Any Ideas?

I work for a small private bank, where a low income family, would make a million per year… the most popular customer car isn’t a Bentley, or a Porsche, it’s a three year old gold colored honda accord, or a 3-4 year old white taurus station wagon….really rich people don’t buy cars to impress, but wannabees do….

Q: Is it wise to sell my car now?
I have a 2005 Civic Coupe DX with about 25000 miles on it. I still owe about $12000 on the 7 year old payment plan. Should I sell my civic and pay off the loan? I have seen some used cars under $2500. I am a student. I use the car to commute to and fro from work and school. I drive about 210 to 250 miles per week, if I go to school/work everyday. Is selling my car a wise decision? Since it is a coupe with no power windows, do you think I should trade now? Or keep the car for another ten years etc?
A: Civics have a great record for reliable cars. You’ve already paid the upfront interest, so I would keep the car and drive it til it dies. A $2500 car is just that, eventally in a year or two it will need some repairs. Why not keep the car you know works, as it will save you money in the long run as long as you keep up the maintance on it.
If you have the money to pay it off, or make a little extra payment on it I would to help pay it down quicker.

A: I would get a 2007 Toyota Camry SE V6 gets good gas mileage, its fast, and very nice looking.
If you want a more sporty car i would go with a 2003 or 2004 Ford Mustang Cobra coupe supercharged 390hp, gas mileage not to good, but very cool looking.

i just bought a used car about 2 weeks ago, the car loan was about 25000 dollars total, they told me they would give me 2000 dollars for my trade in car, but now that i look back on the documents they only paid off the car loan and gave me nothing for the car. Also i wasnt able to get the loan so they told me if I cosign and If i make all the payments on time I can refinance the car under my own name within 6 months. I called the bank that i financed the car from and they told me i wasn’t even a cosigner. Last, the bank changed amount of money my friend made a year on the application so they could get the loan through.. What can I do about this?

hi there. i have been in the united states for the last 4 years and have been using 3 of my credit card for the last 3 years and thats when i opened my first bank account. i am dependent on my parents. i have been extensively using my credits for the past years and was never late with my payments and moreover my credit card always had a negative balance as i was paying excess money all the time. currently i only own 2 credit cards from two different banks. i wanted to check my credit score couple of days back as i am planning to buy a new car under my name. i found out my score to be 785. also i carry a good account balance on both of my banks checking account. currently i dont have any job. and i have heard that the loan lenders looks at my current income to issue me a loan. i will also put a big down payment while buying the car. so i wanted to know even after having a good account balance, good credit score, big down payment will i still be able to get a car on a 25000 loan?

Q: Doge man, Tell me more about lemon law?
I bough the car at a used car lot it had 24000miles,pre owned certifiewarrenty and extended gold warenty from a compine throught the carlot. the other day oil came out of the bottom of the car (not a hole from damage to the oil tank). I took it to an authorized dealership/service for doge, it is covered under factory warranty up to 36000 miles it has 27211 on it now. The dealership told me that the camshaft had play in it and broke it so the engine needs to be replaced. the new one will not be their till Tuesday or Wednesday. The rent a car that the dealership told me to pick up, needs to be back on Monday??? That’s a whole other thing.. Dos the same problem needs to brake 3 times in order to do lemon law? Also will my new motor warranty start over or do I only get the difference in miles to the 36000..is the new engine warranty under mopo 2 year or 25000 miles what do you think???
A: I’m not doge (or even Dodge) man, but I will give you your answer. Lemon laws do not cover used vehicles. Lemon laws cover only new vehicles, and the laws vary by state, but generally you have to give the dealer the opportunity to fix the problem 3 to 5 times, and it has to be the same problem that they were not able to fix.
As to your third party warranty, read the contract you were given when you bought it. They may cover part or all of your expenses, but that has nothing to do with the lemon law.
